Settings

Open the Settings page from the main panel. All settings live in a single list; each one has a ? next to it explaining what it does. Settings are saved per preset, so switching presets switches settings with them.

The License button at the bottom left of the page opens the aescripts license dialog.

Clears After Effects’ memory and disk caches after every rendered row. Long batches can push After Effects’ memory use up over time; enabling this keeps it stable on big runs, at the cost of each render starting without cached frames.

Render from a temporary copy of the project

Section titled “Render from a temporary copy of the project”

Renders each row from a temporary copy of the project instead of the open original. Your working project file stays untouched by the per-row data injection, and the project you have open keeps its unsaved state. Save your project before rendering with this setting on.

Off by default. When enabled, BatchRender plays a chime and shows a desktop notification once a batch finishes or is stopped, so you do not have to watch the panel through a long run.

Agent Mode does not use this: it runs continuously, and a notification per row would be constant noise.

The largest file a single link or attachment in your data may download. Default: 20 GB. Type a number and pick MB or GB next to it, for example 500 MB or 20 GB. Both 1,5 and 1.5 are accepted.

A cell can point at any file on the internet, and in Agent Mode anyone who can edit the sheet decides what that is. The limit stops a single link from filling the disk. A file above it is not downloaded: the row fails with a message naming the limit, so raise it here if large files are expected. See Where downloads go.

Save to watchfolder instead of rendering directly

Section titled “Save to watchfolder instead of rendering directly”

Instead of rendering on this machine, hands each row to render nodes through an After Effects watch folder. See Network Rendering for how that works and what the nodes need.

The path field directly below the checkbox takes the shared folder your render nodes watch. It stays disabled until the checkbox is on, and Save refuses an empty path while the setting is enabled. The folder button next to it opens the folder.

While watchfolder mode is on, a small badge sits next to the render buttons on the main panel. Hover it for a reminder of where output is going.

Off by default. After each successful render, BatchRender records what it produced in your data: where the file is, how big it is, how long it runs and when it was done. Your sheet becomes a delivery log without anyone copying paths by hand.

Tick the fields you want below the checkbox. Each one is written into a column with a fixed name:

Column Holds Example
br-output-path Full path to the rendered file. For an image sequence, the folder holding the frames. D:\renders\promo_de.mov
br-file-size Size of the rendered file. For an image sequence, the total of all frames. 142.6 MB
br-duration After Effects timecode for a movie, a frame count for an image sequence. 0:00:12:15, 300 frames
br-render-time How long the whole row took, including opening its project and downloading remote files.
br-rendered-at When the render finished, in this computer’s local time. 2026-09-06 13:47:11
br-warnings Problems on a row that still rendered, such as a file that could not be downloaded. Empty when the row was clean.

You create the columns. BatchRender never adds, renames or deletes columns in your data. Add a column for each field you want; the names are not case-sensitive. Fields without a matching column are skipped, and the status bar names them once when a run starts. A missing delivery column never stops a render.

Source What to do
CSV / TSV Add the names to the header row.
Google Sheets Add the names to row 1 of the worksheet.
Airtable Add fields with these names, as single line text or long text.
JSON Nothing. Keys are added to each row automatically.

Fields are written only for rows that rendered successfully, so nothing in your data describes a file that does not exist. Both Batch Render and Agent Mode write them; Batch Render still never touches status. The setting is unavailable while watchfolder mode is on, because the file is rendered on another machine.
