Airtable

Use Airtable bases as your render backend: pick any view, and its records become render rows. Filters and sorts on the view apply, so you can build a “render queue” view right in Airtable.

Signing in

1. Open the Airtable page in the panel and click Sign In.
2. Your browser opens Airtable’s consent screen; approve access.
3. The panel picks up the session automatically.

BatchRender asks to read your bases and to edit records. Edit access is only used to write render status and delivery information back into the records it renders.

Connecting views

The tree shows three levels: Bases → Tables → Views.

1. Expand a base to load its tables, then a table to see its views.
2. Tick the views you want to connect.
3. Click Connect.

Batch Render uses the first connected view; Agent Mode scans all of them. Double-clicking a connected view opens it in Airtable in your browser.

Field mapping

Airtable field names act as column names, with the same rules as every other source. See Data Columns.

Each field is injected the way Airtable displays it, using the field’s own format settings:

Formula, lookup and rollup fields follow the format of their result. Dates set to the Local or Friendly format follow the language of your computer, the same way Airtable follows the language of your browser.

A number or currency field whose thousands and decimal separators were changed in Airtable’s field settings is injected with Airtable’s default separators. If you need a specific number format on screen, build it as text in a formula field, for example "€ " & {price}.

Fields that do not resolve to a simple displayed value, such as linked records, are not supported.

An empty field clears its text layer, the same as an empty spreadsheet cell.

Attachment fields

Name an Attachment field after a footage item and BatchRender downloads the attached file and swaps the footage item to it. The file does not have to exist on your machine beforehand, so a shared base can carry both the copy and the artwork for a batch.

Row numbering

The first record of the connected view is row 1, in the order the view shows them. See Row numbering.

Status write-back

In Agent Mode, BatchRender updates each record’s status field as it works (rendering..., complete, error: ...), plus any delivery information fields.

status can be a text field or a single select. With a single select, BatchRender adds the options it writes (rendering..., complete, error: ...) to the field on its own.

Create the br- fields as single line text or long text. A number or date field cannot hold values such as 1.4 MB or 4m 12s and stores them converted or not at all. The status is written either way.

Best practice

Connect a view filtered to status = ready. The agent always works from the view’s current contents, so rows leave the view as they are picked up and the view becomes a self-maintaining render queue.

Usage limits

Airtable limits how quickly its data can be read and written. When the limit is reached, BatchRender waits and continues on its own. You may briefly see a “rate limited, retrying” message in the status bar; no action is needed.

Signing out

Sign Out uses a two-step confirmation. Signing out clears the base tree and selection and removes your Airtable sign-in from this machine.
